The computer is totally objective. That is, any two computers instructed to perform the same operation will arrive at the same result. This is because the computer can perform only computation and logic operations. The computational capabilitiesof the computer include adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Logic capability permits the computer to make comparisons between numbers and between words. The most distinguishing characteristic of any computer system is its "size" or computingcapacity. Computers have been classified as microcomputers, minicomputers, superminicomputers, midicomputers, maxi-computers, and supercomputers. From this list you might think that these terms were coined by fashion designers. Such is not the case. Theminicomputer preceded the miniskirt. |
